This webauthor has - more and more - been noticing 'HOME For Sale' lawn signs along the road pointing to townhouses and condominiums. Notice that the signs do not state: 'HOUSE For Sale.' Why not?
When one buys into a townhouse or a condominium does one does get a title to the building and/or the land it is on? DOES one instead merely get a piece of paper stating affiliation to an "association" relating to the non-separable-and-limited part of the building and/or land such resides on? WHO exactly does own titles to either or both the building as a whole and/or the land such resides on? City or country bureacrats - many times - fund (through tax revenues) the contractor title owners, dependant upon city or county funding for constructing cookie-cuttered socialistic/communistic-like ghetto-reminiscent living cells for community peasants at large and thus beholding to make-things-hard-for-homeowners zoning/inspection/appraising nitpicky-rules-imposing City-Council bureaucrats.
If you now pay $700 rent for a house or apartment, that works out to be about $16,000 a year in rent and $160,000 in ten years...but you can move out any time you want, utilities might be paid for by the landlord, there is no worry about property taxes or lawn care or association fees or suddently-new-and-expensive zoning regulations you are responsible for.
In dire contrast, if you pay $300,000 for a townhouse or condo, you would have to live MUCH longer (i.e. years and years, possibly at the time your cemetery plot would no longer be vacant) to equal what you would have paid in apartment rent, and you do not have title nor deed to either the building nor the land, you pay the variable-rate Association Fee, new Association Rules can be imposed at any time [which if not complied with within a limited amount of time cause you to promptly be ousted], might be responsible for some property taxes in some situations, and you are virtually locked in to staying without quick and mobile escape to live somewhere else in the event of new incoming irritating neighbors with barking pets, shrieking kids, chain-smokers stink, thud-thud-permeating-bass rap-"music" stereos, death, job relocation, etc.
Speaking of weaselwords, the term Affordable Housing to wealthy realtors, developers, and landlords (who connive a comfortable living by raising rents and inflating purchase prices of houses against monetarily-poor economically-disadvantaged bonafide Christians) interpret the term as high prices only those connivers can and should afford!
What [true] Christians actually need is inexpensive houses of their own - very inexpensive houses of their own (and of course the land such are situated on).....not rented nor leased nor shared with some restrictive and nitpicky-rules-concocting condominium or townhouse association.
Remember, although it is claimed that people "own their own unit" of a condominium or townhouse, the "common areas" and "the building" are owned by ALL "owners" of the building (whoever "they" are or night become) - and "the owners" are owned by Title-and-Deed-to-the-building-and-land City or County assessors, inspectors, and other bureaucrats who funded the contractors who built the building with public property and other taxes....which government owners can impose their own peculiar and discriminatory interpretation of "human" and "civil" "rights" relating to which, if a condo or townhouse occupant does not comply with such, will soon find himself or herself ousted from the premises using various tactics and nitpicky red-tape regulations. "Owners" elect a "board of directors" (whoever "they" are or night become) from "their members" (again, whoever "they" are or who might become). Even worse are Cooperatives in which residents do not own their own unit, the building, nor the property...but instead occupy space as "shareholders" having a mere "share of stock" which can and is altered at will by the "board of director" "association" (whoever "they" are of might become become, with or without your approval, in effect).

If you buy those properties, YOU then pay the relentless and substantial property taxes, building improvement costs for bringing things up to Code, responsibility for all sorts of strange written and non-written liens against the property, and other taxes related to capital-gain-type income. In order to make any kind of even a small profit, the buildings or lands bought must be sold at inflated prices set by the municipal county assessor which FEW can afford and YOU have to continually pay those expenses on if not sold.
The Lord's elect have no use for so-called nondiscriminatory/fair-housing/equal-opportunity human/civil rights meddlers imposing preferential treatment to:

One property-tax-free way for genuine Christians to have their own property-tax-free land upon which they build small houses or have trailer pads for trailer homes is to set up and utilize "deacon lots" on property-tax-exempt [or better yet, property-tax-free] church property. Two main qualifications for acquiring and residing on such "deacon lots" would be that the householder be a "deacon" with the church possessing the tax-exempt or (better yet) tax-free property, [thus becoming and staying a member of that church] and show in his possession a KJV, RSV, and NASV Bible to the pastor-manager at the time of application.
